Three years ago, Palmer Lutheran Health Center initiated an $11 million expansion project to carry out it’s focus: “Patients First . . . Building a Legacy of Care.”

On Sunday, September 27, Palmer Health Center in West Union hosted an Open House Dedication, for the newly completed facility. Included in the event was the unveiling of the new donor wall recognizing over 600 contributors who helped make this expansion possible.Palmer1

We began the design and concept of this donor recognition wall over 6 months ago. The conceptual phase involved understanding the Center, their mission, their goals, and all aspects to include within the donor wall. After a walkPalmer2 through of the center it was decided the best place for impact and viewing would be on the large 20 foot waiting room wall. The design challenge was to include 610 donor names within 6 giving levels, fit the space and create an art piece that related to the Center. The final design chosen was a simplified, airy tree with blowing leaves dancing in the spirit of the project. The background was designed to represent the rolling hillside landscape of the area. The abstract curved shape to the panels helps soften the clinical feel to the waiting room. The main fall orange tree color compliments the green interior, walls and furniture to evoke emotion. Each donor name is represented on its own individually mounted leaf, each leaf is made out of 1/4″ plex laser cut, and color coordinated to its giving level, A printed plexiglass legend explains the giving level. The background panels are printed with solvent inks onto a polyester film and laminated with a luster low glare finish ensuring a durable long lasting display. Installation even included working in the thermostat and wayfinding signage onto the panels.

The result of the unveiling was rave reviews and a donor recognition wall that will showcase the sprit of the community for years to come.
